Iron and hydrogen sulfide are both addressed by air injection oxidation. The Springwell WF1 removes up to 7 PPM iron AND 8 PPM hydrogen sulfide in a single tank. If both are your problems and they're within these limits, one system solves both.

How air injection handles both iron and sulfur

The air pocket at the top of an AIO tank oxidizes both dissolved iron and hydrogen sulfide:

Iron (Fe²⁺) oxidizes to ferric iron (Fe³⁺) → filtered out by greensand media
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) oxidizes to elemental sulfur → trapped in media bed
Daily automatic backwash flushes both from the media bed

Testing before buying

Know your numbers before buying. Test for:

Iron (PPM) — determines if WF1 is sufficient or heavier treatment needed
Hydrogen sulfide (PPM) — field test required, H2S dissipates in mail-in samples
Manganese (PPM) — often present alongside iron, WF1 handles up to 1 PPM
pH — affects oxidation efficiency; below 6.5 needs acid neutralizer upstream
Bacteria — if present, add UV downstream of iron/sulfur treatment
